Don’t Follow the Aged 3,000 Mile Oil Change Advice

You've probably heard the myth from friends, relatives - maybe even an automotive business. It's the one that says you should have the oil in your car or truck changed every 3,000 miles. While that may have once been true, it no longer is. Here's why:

There are a couple of reasons why you no longer need your oil changed every 3,000 miles. One is the improvement in the vehicle engines themselves, which means they are more efficient and burn less oil. The other is an improvement in the chemical makeup of automotive oils. Most these days are synthetic, which means they last longer.

What does this all mean? It means most automobiles can go at least 5,000 and maybe even 7,500 miles between oil changes. Be sure to consult your owner's manual to find out the recommended interval for your vehicle. And when it is time for a change, come in to BMW of Wichita Falls.
